Thank you for visiting BSTN.Net! In this section you will find more information about my work, including many work samples and images.
I am a certified planner with more than a decade of experience in architecture, urban design, town planning, land development, geographic information systems (GIS) and projects management. In 1995 I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Paraná State University (UFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil, and in 1997 I moved with my family to America after joining University of Florida’s graduate program in Urban & Regional Planning.
During my professional career in the United States, I have worked in Brazil, Colorado, Texas and Florida, participating in a variety of projects, from architectural design and building construction, to large-scale master planned communities and strategic regional planning. My experience includes historic preservation guidelines, urban infill, adaptive reuse, single family and multi-family residential design, master planned communities, development of mixed use districts and large commercial properties, as well as the design management of projects in the United States, Mexico, Caribbean and South America.
I am a registered member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute and the Congress for the New Urbanism. In 2006 I also received a certification from the National Charrette Institute in Public Meetings Facilitation and Charrette Planning.
My work at University of Florida included projects for the Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Museum of Natural History, Florida Department of Transportation and other planning agencies; while my research explored the use of traditional design principles applied to small-scale urban infill, focusing on the development of high-density mixed-use districts to revitalize economically distressed historic neighborhoods.
In 2007 I also incorporated a business named Urban Design Solutions (UDS), with the goal of providing professional consulting services in land development, town planning, urban design and community visioning. The business is maturing rapidly with several prospective works in the United States and abroad. You can find more about UDS at www.urbds.com.
