Urban Design, Architecture, GIS and Other Stuff...

In this section you will find information related to my work in urban design, architecture, GIS and projects management.

In 1995 I received my Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the Parana' State University (UFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil. After another three years studying Urban and Regional Planning at University of Florida, my wife and I moved to Colorado, where I began my carrer in Architecture and Planning.

In October of 2000 I was hired by Buchanan Yonushewski Group of Denver, as member of their 50-people architectural team, and eventually becoming responsible for the CAD and IT management within their offices until my departure, in December of 2003.

After moving to Austin I joined Nelsen Partners, a mid-size architectural firm with offices in Texas and Arizona. Their award-winnig list of projects includes high-end restaurants, mixed use master planning, high density multi-family towers and lifestyle retail centers.

In 2004 my wife and I returned to Florida, where I joined Glatting Jackson's Master Planning Group as an Urban Designer.

Founded in 1974, Glatting Jackson is a Community Planning firm with a staff of over 160 professionals in varied disciplines. While at Glatting I was able to participate in a wide variety of projects, including master-planned communities, high-density mixed use urban infill, traditional neighborhood design, and retail centers.

After two years as an Urban Designer, I took on a position as a Project Manager of Architecture for Starwood Vacation Ownership. SVO is a is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. ( NYSE: HOT) and currently designs, builds and operates resorts under the Westin, Sheraton and St. Regis brands in some of the world's most desirable destinations, including Hawai‘i, Colorado and the Caribbean. The company is headquartered in Orlando, and it has dozens of resorts and more than 4,300 employees.

In 2007 I have also incorporated my own business, named Urban Design Solutions, with the goal of providing professional consulting services in land development, town planning, urban design and community visioning. The business is maturing rapidly with several prospective works in Colorado, Florida and Brazil. This has recently become a full-time venture with a lot more of interesting news to come in 2009!
